At the Helm... 
Anthony J. "Tony" ShepherdPresident 
Mr. Shepherd is an expert security strategist specializing in high-end commercial and government security services. He has progressive, diversified experience in CEO, COO, GM, and entrepreneurial roles over a career spanning 30+ years. His experience is defined by strategically directing multimillion dollar, multi-year security and protection contracts for industrial, federal, and international government clients.
His most recent experience includes Vice President/Division Manager of the Integrated Physical Security Solutions Division for Pro2Serve, Oak Ridge, TN since 2009. In this position Mr. Shepherd provided vital security technical services to the US DOE Nuclear Weapons Complex and ICBM programs for the US Air Force. As the Pro2Serve representative, he was a leading contributor to new security technology to enhance the security posture of several DOD, DOE facilities while working directly with Protective Force contractors to enhance overall security at each facility.  
Prior to this position, Mr. Shepherd was located at the DOE Strategic Petroleum Reserve Operation (SPRO), New Orleans, LA where he served as the Covenant Security Services, Ltd., Vice President/General Manager for the Protective Force security operation. During his service he upheld security integrity in executing US Presidential drawdown readiness immediately subsequent to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, which damaged 3 SPRO sites in TX and LA. From this effort he garnered a letter of commendation from DOE and shared the DOE Secretary of Energy Gold Medal with the DOE SPR Team. Mr. Shepherd holds a BS in Mechanical Sciences and is a Board Certified Protection Professional (CPP) from the ASIS.
Eric A. Pohland Vice President, Operations 
Eric A. "Ric" Pohland joined the Coastal International Security team in July 2010.  As Vice President of Operations, he leads, directs, and coordinates Coastal’s worldwide contract and security operations.  He develops all policies and procedures for operational execution, provides Coastal's corporate business development with operational analysis and impact, and directs the company’s Quality Control and Compliance, and Recruiting and Training Academy.
Mr. Pohland holds a BS in Basic Science from the U.S. Air Force Academy, a MS in Criminal Justice, Eastern Kentucky University, and a MS in Strategic Studies, Army War College.  He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Colonel after twenty-five years of dedicated service, where he served throughout the U.S. and around the world in a variety of Security Police positions, including Air Combat Command Chief of Security Forces and commanded at the Squadron, Group, and Wing levels.

Coastal has served in over 150 countries providing construction security monitoring for the U.S. Department of State.  While U.S. embassies are constructed or renovated abroad, Coastal’s Construction Surveillance Technicians and American Guards assure that construction crews complete the work without compromising embassy security.  This involves preventing such security breaches as the installation of clandestine eavesdropping equipment.  Congress mandated this monitoring action for construction of all U.S. Department of State facilities overseas in 1988, and Coastal has been providing these services since then.

Coastal International Security, Inc., has suspended hiring to transfer this function to a new company, Protective Services Training Academy (PSTA). Recruiting will resume again in late March, 2012.
Not far from the Nation’s Capital, Coastal’s National Capital Region (NCR) applicants will receive their training at the PSTA). The PSTA is where the region’s top protective service organizations and professionals come to train. It’s quickly become the training facility of choice for protective security, military, and law enforcement professionals in the region. 
They also know that it was created to meet the needs of the security professional that is serious about their training and wants to work at the highest-quality, most affordable place they can.
The PSTA is the flagship of training academies. Because a significant number of Coastal clients are in the Washington, D.C. area, this is our biggest and busiest academy. Surveillance Monitoring (CSM) Program

Embassies, warehouses and other Department of State facilities under construction in various parts of the world are protected around the clock by Coastal employees. They have served in more than 150 nations around the world.
Construction surveillance monitoring, mandated by Congress in 1988 for all such facilities, requires specialized skill and training in electronic surveillance, countermeasures, clandestine eavesdropping technology and construction techniques. Many have years of experience in construction, electronics and electronic surveillance. From serving in so many different facilities, Coastal CSM personnel have developed a high familiarity with what to look for as construction takes place.
