Westchester County Politicians Providing Cyanide
December 6, 1978, Cyanide Memo From the FBI Director to the FBI's New Rochelle Headquarters
On December 5, 1978, FBIHQ received second-hand information from a source of undetermined reliability whose identity is unknown to the Bureau that one [redacted] (phonetic) reportedly a political figure residing in Westchester County, provided the cyanide used in the suicide-murder incident in Jonestown, Guyana. Although the Bureau has no jurisdiction regarding the deaths of Peoples Temple (PT) members in Jonestown, who allegedly died of cyanide poisoning, New Rochelle should attempt to further identify [redacted] and thereafter locate and interview him regarding any knowledge he had of any plan to assassinate congressman Leo J. Ryan or any other United States government official.
