Flickr Has Earned My Undying Enmity

Worse than the telecoms. Flickr caved under government pressure and deleted my entire 3000 image account, along with priceless commentary and marginalia.

I was aware they had taken down a single photograph--without giving notice to me, mind you--of a Navy fighter jet flying over the Pentagon, an image officially released by the military.
My contractual relationship with Flickr, they tell me in precise legal terms, says don't upload any "stuff" which "isn't yours," or that "you didn't take."

The entities who would have a legitimate right to question my "web collecting," are agencies like Corbis and Getty, who remain seemingly unconcerned by my minor amateur editorial use. But Flickr, a hosting service FOR WHICH I PAY, acts as a surrogate for the fascist bastards, net nanny guards for the New World Order. Shame on Flickr! Shame!

Maybe I'll link to my one Flickr friend, Jeff Costlow of Arlington, Virginia.
He'll go on a hunger strike for me I bet!!!

  1. Boy...THAT must suck!

Don't ya just hate it when the gub'mint bends you over and drives it deep?

Mebbe you shouln't upload any "stuff" which "isn't yours," or that "you didn't take."....without permission.

And it was an Air Force fighter, not a Navy fighter.

Specificity and accuracy is the very soul of credibility, Steve-O, and right now you are about as un-credible as can be.

  2. I hate it when the gub-ment puts aquarium gravel in the KY. Nobody needs THAT much traction!

And what does "officially released" mean to somebody on the inside? You guys have all the tools, all the resources, and still you are losing the game. THAT must suck, my friend.
